“The amount of joy we get to witness within our VOCEL classes is like no other, smiles and giggles all while our little ones nourish their minds with play is pure bliss.”

Maritza has been a part of VOCEL since 2019 and is a teacher for our Southwest side cohorts. Maritza enjoys watching VOCEL children grow and experience with families all the wonderful milestones their children achieve everyday. With her enthusiastic and creative mind, Maritza brings fun and laughter to all her classes. Working with little ones to support their developmental skills has always been a passion of hers, all while making sure everyone is included and always being aware of everyone’s individual abilities.  Maritza has built trustful bonds with VOCEL families, and she appreciates that she can be part of their children’s lives.  Maritza’s goal is to bring learning through play to all families and make sure everyone feels welcome and included in every class.

Maritza has an education background in Justice Studies, and she is currently continuing her education in Health Information Technology. Passionate about inclusion and equality for all, Maritza has been an advocate for families in her community. She is also a personal advocate for her 11-year-old son Julian, who is medically complex and has special needs.

Outside of work, Maritza enjoys spending quality time with her family. You can find Maritza in the baseball field being her youngest son’s number one fan or at Julian’s Special Olympics sports cheering him on. She also enjoys crafting, cooking, and baking. Most of all, Maritza loves being a mom to two sons.
